Ex O/O Looking at options

Short Background
Have held a CDL since 1993
many Different jobs most (Non Driver Jobs)
I have driven for Oilfield related companies such as Equipment Hauling, Dozers, Scrapers Backhoes, Belly Dumps for Dunn Services. as Well as Dry-bulk cement, Acid and water Tankers and Pumps for B.J. Services.
Bought a Freightliner Classic XL in 2008
Flatbed - Hauled 100% oilfield Equipment, Drill pipe, and Casing.
Very bad timing and inexperience on my part. I signed a 5 year contract with ACE Trans.
100% Oilfield Loads for my Flatbed. The economy fell out from under me, and to top it off
ACE would not let me out of the contract to drive elsewhere.. Long story short Lost my business.

Years Later....Still got the Bug....
Looking at the option of buying another truck.
Issues - Even though I still maintain my basic Class A CDL, I haven't driven since 2009
And I do not want anything to do with Hauling 100% oilfield.
Obviously I am Gun shy of long Contracts...
I appreciate any advice from Truckers and Companies.

I am just looking at what options I might have if any.

My Current Location Is South Central Texas about an hour Southwest of San Antonio Tx.
But I eventually wish to be based out of Colorado.
That is also a Future plan of mine.

I was concerned about my lack of recent Driving XP.

Also After reading a bit on this forum.... I am developing a healthy fear of elogs.... lol
That is a new thing to me. Sounds like a loss of some trip control once they are started.
I have been out of it and obviously there have been many changes..
Catching up is what it is...
