Yeah, I also negotiated a settlement offer because I refused to pay all the penalties they wanted to heap on it. They wanted something like 9 grand for what was a $3,500 school at the time, so I settled at 4-something and family members helped me with a loan. I paid it off around 7 years ago, and chalked it up to finally doing the right thing. If I hadn't played ball with them, they would've had my wages garnished and I would've paid the whole thing. You gotta pay eventually. My situation happened because I found a better place to start at than USA Truck, so I went to work for a smaller outfit near me that also had a training program.

You think I can bluff them with that because I know someone that's a retired lawyer. I had pictures of the truck take as well

So I should just try and negotiate with them?
so should I just try and bargain with them -
If you have a friend or family member ex-lawyer who would be willing to act as your mouthpiece, you might want to try and give them a lowball offer. Threatening to sue or file for bankruptcy might not help. The bottom line is that they helped you get your license, and that is worth something. It opens up a ton of opportunities, and down the road you will get over how they wronged you and you'll be so grateful to have that card in your pocket.

Failure started as soon as the recruiter administered that sunshine injection. Suddenly he felt like singing and dancing

Friend, I have a question for you. I need a yes or no answer. Can you drive? You trained on an auto, but have no restrictions to auto on your license. Can you drive an auto?
It sounds as if you had finished your time with the trainer and they were testing you out before you were issued your own rig. So you should be able to drive. If you can answer yes, go find you a real job and leave the silly theatrics behind you. IMO, your getting fired was a good thing.
