Hi I'm doing good. I'm not seeing any yards in NJ BUT if you are within 100 miles of leesport PA you could apply there. The pay is a little different depending on which yard you are based out of. Some yards pay "day pay" others pay mileage. I'm on mileage. Now remember miles arent a big deal here on the ltl side. I can make just as much on a 1800 mile week as I can on a 3200 mile week because of the different pays we get. I believe day pay guy get something like $156 a day plus load pay. Example if your on day pay and you take a 10 drop one day load out of your home yard you will get $156(day pay) + $210(load pay)=$366 for that run. Also I believe if you do over 380 miles in a day you get more money.
Here's an example of my current load that I just picked out of a drop yard(not my home yard). It's a 6 drop 2 day unload in Manitoba Canada. OK here we go hope your ready!
1114 quoted miles (p.s. ltl gets paid hub miles) = 456.74@ .41 cpm
Hook= 15
6 drops= 160
Border crossing= 75
Any load that takes more than 1 day to unload pays 75 per day after 1st day= 75
Load came from yard I'm not based in so therefore 50 per day of delivery= 100
Mileage pay= 456.74
Everything else=425
Total pay for 2.5 days= 881.74 -
I'm in the North east now , PA to be exact , haven't been to the NE in nearly 6 years . I avoid it like the plague .
I got my start here in the NE and didn't intend on ever coming back but the company I'm with snuck it in on me a week ago .
I hate the NE , it's a mess .... a slow moving messtrucker43, ASHLEYDRIVER2013 and flyingmusician Thank this. -

And remember thats just one of my loads for the week. Typically I peddle between 2 to 4 loads a week. All said and done come the end of the week I usually gross between 1500 and 2000 sometimes over 2000 very rarely under 1500.trucker43, ASHLEYDRIVER2013 and flyingmusician Thank this.

I'm getting the vibe that drivers have no say in the areas they run, is that correct? As with another driver, I've done my time up north and am not apologetic for refusing a job that expects me to run mid-Atlantic, New England, or upper mid-west. (no news is good news I say : no NEW Jersey, no NEW York, no NEW Hampshire, no NEW EnglandI, LOL!)
I'm based in the SE (Chattanooga) and would run regional if enough miles, SE, super south, SW, I'll run NW out of this area as long as I return here and am not sent across 90, 80 or 70 east of the Mississippi.
Working currently with a good outfit but they keep me out for 3 weeks at a time, not the 'we have freight going into and out of Georgia all the time' that I thought would at the least get me past the house twice a week.
Turned down offer from La-Z Boy in TN before taking this job because they had plans for me to run Montreal weekly and I had been very up front with them that I see their trucks running across the south (I-20 from TX and I-40 out of the SW) and that is the region I want to run.
Ran with a small O/O who contracted to Franklin Furniture out of Cleveland, TN mostly west to Texas with a few runs north to southern Ohio, but his pay was low and had no benefits.
Anyway, have had Ashley email me an app and will talk to a recruiter directly about staying south if running truckload out of Atlanta but thought I'd ask about dispatch practices here first (zones? regions? dedicated?). thanx, very helpful thread, Ashley has been sort of under the radar for years and I've been curious! bb. -
Well to answer some of your questions they won't guarantee that they're going to keep you in a particular area. ,, about the only way that you're going to be able to do that is ltl , it is a forced dispatch system. They should tell you this up front.Last edited: Nov 12, 2015
