Swift is not a bad company man. I have a close friend who's been there 18 years. He loves it. I have another close friend who is an owner operator and he's stressed all the time. Lol.
DJ Hughes Thanks this. -
I mean really its not that bad here. My DM never messes with me I run hard and get there on time so they leave me alone for the most part.
-
I got my start at Swift. I stayed there for 3 years. I enjoyed my time at Swift.
-
Best decision I ever made was when I left Swift. Found a company that has made my quality of life 10x better than when I was with swift.
For goodness sakes they even charge their drivers to play a game of pool in their own driver lounge in PHX. How sad is that? -
put in a rock solid 6 months, then look around. if a job is available to you now, it'll be there later as well. it might even be a good idea to get in a winter's worth of driving as well, then you can say on your resume, "all season's driving".
Bob Dobalina and DJ Hughes Thank this. -
Thanks G. that's good advice you old fart.

Wait until you have 6 mos experience, then switch to A&R Logistics.
Easy money and don't need tanker/hazmat because they have an exemption due to they haul plastic pellets.
Take the truck home.
Governed at 67 mph.
Annual income $62K - $72K.
Home weekends or can stay out if you want. -
Don't make a sideways move. From what I've seen, Western Express may even be a move DOWN from Swift. No matter what, listen to these guys and wait at least 6 months. It sounds like you have it pretty good there compared with what many of their drivers make. I understand the frustration of dealing with people disrespecting you because of the name on the truck, but don't head over to another company that is also considered a bottom-feeder only to face a similar situation.
Here's what you should do: go to a truck stop and get one of every type of those free "driver magazines" with all the different companies advertising their jobs. Then set them all on fire. Most companies that have to aggressively advertise like that for drivers are doing so out of desperation. They have problems with turnover because the jobs suck for one reason or another. Also be wary of huge sign-on bonuses. Another red flag. The places that don't advertise or bribe drivers to work for them are the ones you should check out.
Hang in there, driver. It gets better.DJ Hughes and HAWAIIANTHRIVER Thank this.
