Looking for a replacement and finally found a used truck spec'ed just the way I need it. And in my price range. 2012 Kw T-800. Only reservation is it has a Paccar engine. Salesman says their not as bad as I have heard... But thats his job... My question is how many guys have the Paccar and have had good things to say about it... We have all heard the bad.

From what I have heard good up to about 300k to 400k then start having injector and wrist pin issues. The one my terminal had thur a rod at 370k. It got traded.Last edited: Nov 11, 2015
Diesel Dave and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
Cummins bottom end but cheaper. They were notorious for throwing a rod by 500-600K due to a well known flaw in the bottom end design.
This is a real problem with the ISX too and most bottom ends won't make it past 700-800k without inframe if it didn't pitch a rod first.Samuel Coyne and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
I currently run a 2015 KW with a MX13 @455 hp 1650 lb ft, I have no complaints so far with 103,000 mls. Loaded my first load January 2nd this year, fuel economy has been good, pulling hills with 3.08 rears a pleasant surprise.
How many miles does the T800 have on it and what was it used for? If it came from the oilfield I would RUN !!!!! Oilfield is rough on any truck or engine. -
Oilfield is only as rough as the driver

Isn't paccar really bad on fuel mileage??
-
Mine is not. 7.4 mpg average for the year so far, pump to pump. I figure mpg after every fill up.

Hey Larry.. how do you like your Paccar... The one I'm looking at is a 2012 T-800 with a 430 hp MX13. Low miles only about 185,000. The truck has alot of life left in it and is perfect for my use, but I'm a little scared of the new technology.
Thanks Jesse -
Ah ok just something I heard
