The peoplenet unit in this truck had been going out since I started. It was getting hung up on the logo screen and not getting to the home screen. Talked to breakdown about it on my first trip out, I had the shop in Ecru look at it when I got down there. They got under the dash to disconnect/reconnect the fuses and got it running. I was told I could do the same if it went out on the road. Still only worked maybe 2/3 of the time. Called peoplnet support about it several times to no avail. Finally after being accused by safety of not knowing how to run the unit (I set them straight...as in I know how to run elogs but can't do it when the unit is jammed up) it was replaced yesterday.
Off to the next assignment to find that it shows a pickup time of 6 hrs earlier than I received the workflow with a delivery of 8 hrs earlier than I can get there. I'm not very impressed with the dispatch/workflow part of this system. I don't like getting assignments that I'm late on before I even get them. I realize it probably is all on the up and up but my suspicion level starts to rise as in it's easy for an office person to be covering their arse by sending it and making it look like the driver is the problem..he got there late.
While talking with peoplenet support I found out that their mapping system is done by a third party and the maps are only updated when they do a whole system upgrade...as in 2 to 3 years!
Still a good overall company but in an effort to post accurate info...these are my beefs to date. If they really are going to expand from a 4 billion a year company to a 10 billion company along with expanding their fleet they'd better really work on this system they have in place, it has some issues and they will only multiply with more drivers.
Oh, I also sat for 5 hours in ND waiting for the relay (ltl) driver to get to our meeting location on Monday...with no detention that sucked. There, my rant is over.trucker43 and flyingmusician Thank this. -
hehehe welcome to dealing with the cube farm lol
I've kinda had the same suspicion this week getting loads that are planned ready for pickup at 0400-0500, I get my hours back at 0400-0500 and they don't even start loading till 0800. A little too 'convienent' those times always match up but then I sit. Always at Leesport, nowhere else.
Their technology will always be 10 years behind loltrucker43, almostthere and ASHLEYDRIVER2013 Thank this. -
