    I worked as a recruiter before I went into safety at Werner. We had a script for most answers to the common questions. A lot of them were 100% accurate, some of them were not answers but vague hints. "How often do you get dispatched to xxx city" / "Well not very often." I think a lot of the 'lies' drivers hear are perceived or hot wind they heard another driver talking about. I'm sure there are some lies spoken, maybe even on purpose. But those guys aren't the devil or anything they're just doing their jobs.

    why did u all have a scribt?recruiters should know everything about the company.how many miles did u tell drivers they would be getting a week?how about all the swapping and splitting Werner does,did u tell applicants about that?what about sitting at the terminal for over a day to have trk serviced?are drivers aware of that?all these hidden things are what makes a huge turnover rate.what common questions are asked from your well rehearsed scribt ?

    We had a script because drivers don't ask much and we were encouraged to provide information that was accurate. As far as truck repairs go, I wasn't aware that the logo on the side of a truck can affect breakdown ratio. We had an average mileage to give depending on the fleet the driver was interested in. And all the swapping and splitting is luck of the draw, some drivers rarely had to tcall/relay, some did it often.

    All the drivers ever asked with certainty boiled down to 4 questions.
    1. Can I bring x person?
    2. How much .cpm will I make?
    3. Can I have an inverter?
    4. Will I get a new truck?

    Everything else was scattershot and the person was usually in a hurry to get off the phone, and I usually had someone to call back so conversations were short.

    If it was a student I also had a script about what to bring and things to do with the trainer. Lots of phone numbers and extensions etc.

    its just sad more drivers then not learn on their own what companies are truly like.drivers main goal like motor carriers are to make money.they have bills like companies do.dispatchers really dont care about their drivers because they have 70 or more drivers on their board to compensate for drivers that sit.the new people coming in this industry have no clue what to ecspect except by what recruiters have to say.when I'm looking for a company its because I want to drive for them not what recruiters have to say.Werner doesn't have the Miles for all the drivers so why do they have orientation two or three times a week?

    I've had some good and some bad recruiters call and talk to me.

    The worst one, talked too much, didn't listen and although I have wife and young children, he encouraged me to drive a straight (3 week runs for an expedite company). When I didn't fall in love with that, he said I was 'wasting his time and didn't get enough commission to place a new driver'. A few days later, he calls back, forgot what we talked about, suggested the same thing and ended the call by saying I was 'looking for a unicorn and had an important call to take.'
