I'm going to be looking at a '06 W9 today and was just looking for some suggestions on things to check. I know it has a MXS C-15 in it, but I don't know a whole lot about Cats. Is this prefix motor decent? All I know about these era Cats is that they are twin turbo ACERTS. Anything I can look for or check? Serial number breaks that would be better? Has around 800,000 miles and supposedly rebuilt 40,000 miles ago, with paperwork.

Also, I have a 99 8 bag T800, but curious if there is a good way to tell the condition of the rear suspension? I'm guessing it has an 8 bag, but not certain.

Anything else I should pay close attention too?

The guy took it on trade for a different piece of equipment, so he doesn't know a whole lot about it.

You're in a dangerous predicament if the owner doesn't know much about it.

No. This was in Wisconsin. Just got home. Was able to figure out and talk to some previous owners and find out history of truck. Ended up buying it and bringing it home!

Excellent. They have one near me that's almost an identical description to what you posted. She's a real looker too.

I have an 06 C15 in my Century. Bought the truck with 290k on it and im at 818k now. Its been a great motor. Only been into the top end once when it broke some studs and damaged a wiring harness; which is common from what i read if the studs hadnt been upgraded. Apparently mine were not. THATS IT!!!, besides regular services, fuel transfer pump, clutch, brakes, and a couple AC compressors. It needs a gallon of oil around 15k, if i add oil then i run another 5k or so, otherwise i just get it changed. I have a huge maintenance account set aside for when that day comes, nothing lasts forever. Its an old Werner truck so I imagine its early life was pretty rough. I average over 7.5mpg mostly under 20k lb loads and i dont go over 60mph unless its downhill. Yes, im the one holding you up,always in the right lane :p

    Dave_in_AZ Thanks this.
