I do want to go local, however the companies I've called (Schneider JB Hunt) wants me to do regional for 60-90 days and then they'll put me on a local route. I've been lied to by a recruiter before. And after talking to my fiance she's ok with coming home every other weekend. Right now I'm out for 3-5 weeks at a time. And I usually get a phone call after 2 days saying there's a HOT load that needs to v be picked up. So going with A&R or some other tanker company would be better than what I'm doing now.

I personally would like to eventually get a Mon - Fri job and be home every weekend. North East is not my favorite though, so not sure if I will ever try it though.

if that's the case move to a regional fleet within maverick. They do have a regional fleet if I remember correctly. Then you can transition more easily and stay with the job you like.

I follow one of the maveric guys on YouTube he vlogs he's home every weekend Saturday and leaves Sunday night or something like that. Hauls flatbed. Maybe they got,something like that for you.
If you're a well respected driver by maveric I don't see why they wouldn't give you what you want to keep you around. -
I'll put it this way...I went local for my ex didn't change a thing...so frankly I'll do what's best and if the other half wants to cry and complain about so be it..

As you drive around your area, or within an hour of it. Pay attention to every DAYCAB you see.
You will find there are many private company's around that have drivers. Many of them pay as well or better than you would get OTR, and you will be home every day or almost every day. Since they are DAYCABS.
Jot down the names. Check them out when you stop to see if you can find information on where to apply. Not every company that needs drivers advertises. -
The only place in GA that I know that is BEGGING for drivers is Badcock, they are closing DC's in Thompson GA, and Cullman AL. They made a big new DC in Lagrange. But they cannot find any drivers that will work for what they offer.
I worked for them for a year in Florida. The pay was ok, but it was really only ok for a 5 day work week and we had a 6 day week. And we unloaded all the furniture and appliances. Most stores had docks or ramps, so they would help and we would just downstack and fingerprint. But some we had to tailgate.
Allot of work. In Florida most of our pay was unload. Drivers made around 52-54k per year, all the same regardless of time with company.
Up in the northern DCs I heard they made a little more, since the stores were more spread out and they got more miles. Still I would guess 1000-1300 per week. Home every day. But you could get a salary job doing drop and hook in Atlanta with that pay. -
You're talking about Dale Clay. He's a good dude. He's making a killing on his referrals by the way. He bought me and a few other drivers breakfast a few weeks ago. He's in the flatbed division. I'm in the glass division. I don't want to change divisions. I absolutely love what I do. Flatbed drivers get home every weekend. Glass usually stay out 3+ weeks. I could go home every other week but my checks would be that of somebody working at a fast food place, (no offense) So I stay out longer. I'm still pondering on what I should do. The next time I'm home I'm going to have a serious talk with my fiance and get an understanding of what's too long for me to be away. Maybe I can stagnate between 3 and 2 weeks out. If she'd be ok with that then I'll stay. I'm enjoying the money but I'd be more than willing to take a pay cut for her to be happy

Local work isn't all roses man, believe me. Prepare to likely take a paycut, work 25x harder, and still work a 12-14 hour physical day
