Trans Am is a starter company or a second chance company. They run the same places all the time. Once you drive for them for about 3-4 months you hit most of their major locations. You can get an idea of where your going to pick up even with out a preplan. I used it as a second chance company. I rolled a truck in April of 2012. I was cleared of all wrong doing by the D.O.T., police and insurance company but most companies wouldn't hire me. Trans Am did and it allowed me to keep driving. I found them an easy company to figure out, maybe frustrating at times but easy. This industry is tough, unforgiving. It looks way easier than what it is. The easy part is driving between big cities. The hard part is cities, shipping, receiving, dispatchers and paperwork. Sometimes it feels as is everyone is gunning for us. Lawyers, cops and the public. But once you have this in your system you just want to keep doing it. OTR is a way of life. It's either in your blood or not. If it isn't you'll hate this job.

    Good luck

TransAm is a stepping stone company. The benefits are that of a starter company. The low pay for miles and no pay for detention, or recovery of trucks. But it is an excellent place to get experience, but after a year there or similar starting company, you will qualify for better paying gigs, and better paying accessorials. Its a means to move up.

Thank you. I do appreciate the information. Glad to see that you were able to continue to do what it is you obviously love to do.. What I know is that I have a passion to become an OTR driver.. I have had it since I was a kid and rode with uncles who drove OTR on weekends holidays and summer vacations. Whenever I was allowed to go I would go.. That passion really never left I merely set it aside as I chose a different career path.. Now I find myself in a very fortunate and blessed position. In that I have the freedom and resources to pursue my passion to become an OTR driver.. It is not my only opportunity or last chance, It is not that I have to have a paycheck although I see nothing wrong with being paid to do something I have always wanted to do.. I am joining this industry because I WANT TOO and for me that is the best reason... I also want to make sure that I choose the best fit for me when selecting the company I will drive for.. I do not really want to use a company as a stepping stone or just to get experience and bolt to something better.. Because for me just being able to be an OTR Driver is the something Better.. Not that there is anything wrong with getting experience and then taking a better opportunity.. That is up to each individual and what they need or want.. I do not need home time I do not need the top cpm I do not need the health care.. What I need is the miles to drive and something nice and reliable to drive them IN.. So thanks again @jaso37 for the information.. I do appreciate it..
