HAHA, tell that friend he needs to spend a Summer in Odessa Ukraine on the Black Sea, the hottest women in the world and so cheap! A meal in a nice restaurant for the price of McDonald's!

My situation is remarkably similar to yours, I gross a bit more, but probably spend a bit more on fuel & tires pulling a curtain van on the west coast. I think a lot of people blindly chase the numbers without considering the other aspects. I appreciate the fact that I work for genuinely decent people who aren't trying to screw me every time I turn my back. I don't have to spend all my spare time watching a load board, kissing various agent's butt's, trying to figure out lanes & markets, watching other peoples rates or anything similar. I just run the loads I'm assigned & say thank you when I get them. It's hard to put a value on peace of mind.

Oh - BTW Cowpie, you posted in a thread about tire prices a while ago & what you quoted got me looking- your prices were accurate & I'm getting a better deal now, not buying through my carrier- Thanks!

He's in his 50's, so he's probably not looking for a McDonald's tier woman.

If you look,.. you are posting in an area for Owner Operators. Not company drivers.

You'll make more money yearly doing any sort of "hands on" loads or specialty stuff.flat bed, livestock, dry bulk.you know, stuff that doesn't involve just sitting behind the windshield and talking on the phone.
