I've been in the same situation, but not this time.
This time I needed repairs done, so I'm one of the stuck drivers.
The bobtail parking is full here.

But the strangest thing I was told by another O/O is that the Denver plnrs where told to give Co drivers the freight to keep them moving and that O/O's where to pick up the slack. Or in other words, given the scraps and left overs, while the Co drvrs get the good loads.
This is not the first that I have heard about this or just this terminal, but others as well. I heard that it is all of the western terminals -
Well the guy who was telling me, told me he was told that directly by someone in the staff of the Denver term and that it came from the top down.
But I will say, the last time I was in the Gary/Chicago area, all the pp I got were for 200 miles, most going to the Columbus term, or else very short stuff in IL.
oh well... -
I didn't realize the the KMART DC closed down in Brighton, explains a lot.
My last 3 or 4 trips to Denver have been quick in and outs.
I'm at the TA in New Braunfels, deliver in Schertz in the morning. Just turned down my first "won't take me home" load as I have hometime scheduled for 11/19. Tried to send me back to Dallas. ONE trip on I-35 through Austin is enough for me. -
That whole I35 stretch is crap ... I use the toll road around Austin now.
-
The J near Omaha.
I woke up this morning to a pplan. A t-called load heading to Milwaukee, and I snagged it right up.
I go in to get the paperwork and was told it wasn't there yet, so I go back to my truck to get ready.
I go in 20 minutes later and they still don't have the paperwork, but he checks and finds that the truck and trailer are in the yard - the very back row.
I drive back there and find the truck and trailer, still attached and the curtains closed. The driver is asleep.
I have to wake him up, telling him that when he is t-calling a load he needs to unhook from the trailer and bring in the paperwork. So after another 10 minutes he is finally out of the truck to unhook.
He takes another 10 minutes to find a place to park his bobtail and heads in.
It's a 44.5k load, so he has to have a scale ticket. Trouble was, it was not legal. He had over 34k on the tandems.
He said the guy at the TA where he scaled it told him he would be OK with that weight, so he didn't adjust it and re-weigh the load.
It was only over by about 100 pounds, so I take the load and slide it up one hole.
It was his first load as a solo, after going through 3 mentors. He wasn't 'mentored' very well, in my opinion, or simply isn't that bright.
And I have my next load lined up already. Picking up in Milwaukee and going back to Denver for a Wednesday afternoon delivery.
I'll have 2 days to kill before my scheduled home time, which I don't want to take early because the girls will be in school. I'll see what they can offer.
That is, if I can get it there on Wednesday with that big storm coming in.
And now I'm going to try out the new Binge On from T-Mobile.
Video streaming from Netflix and many other services is now free. It doesn't count against the data. -
How much does THAT cost?
Will Swift reimburse? -
Funny thing is bobtail parking is ALWAYS full at every terminal I go to.
-
It's license plate scan ... no out of pocket ... 85 mph speed limit, go as fast as you are capable or want.
Swift has never denied me a toll ... and if they are shorter and/or quicker, I will use them. -
Learned something new, thanks.
