I've been trying to figure out how to pull out the unloader piston on the BA921 compressor to replace it.

The balance piston (looks like a mushroom with a long stem) and spring come out no problem, but I don't know if the piston itself is baked onto the head of the compressor or not. Is there a tool or technique to pull these out ? Do I need some kind of a pulley puller if they're pressed into the head ?

    Any help appreciated.

It will come out, you just have to work it. Since you are replacing it take a lag bolt, thread it in and pull out. I have done many and learned long ago to take the head off and rebuild it completely with new gaskets. You have no idea how much build up is inside. If what you are doing works, it will only last for a short time. Good Luck.

I just replaced my unloader piston. Basically, in order to combat the vacuum you have to remove the airline to the unloader port. This will allow air into the system as you remove the piston, thus making it a lot easier to remove. Before I removed the airline I couldn't get the thing to budge.
