Wanted to go to the brighter LED bulbs in a 2014 Freightliner Cascadia and I'm running into problems with LED's. When I install the LED bulb they don't seem to light up ? I was thinking it might have something to do with the wattage of LED bulb but 7.3 watts should work with a 15 amp fuse ? Am I mistaken or is there another issue I am not aware of ? Below are a few photo's of what I am working with. That's a standard bulb that is burning is the in the light housing.

I guess there is this issue because dome lights get power from sam cab logic board...

On overhead lights polarity is reversed, it's got negative on center and positive on the side. I had the same problem. Got some led light from wall mart and it works. Don't know what model. Some of the cheaper ones only work if polarity is correct.

Thank you slavcha !!!!! You have shed some much needed light on this issue. Well I'll fess up, I bought some white & green LED lights from the Iowa 80 Truck Stop thinking they would have what I needed. Then after those lights didn't work I tried the LED's at Love's, they don't work either.. I guess I'm going to be.having a fire sale on LED bulbs here pretty quick. I'll wait until I get back to the Terminal and talk with my trusty mechanic and tell him what you said about the polarity and see what he can do to help me.

Those lights will work in the sleeper dome lamps.

LED = Light Emitting Diode, all diodes are polarity conscience by nature..

SAM checks bulbs for open circuit and LED is not recognized as bulb)

Yup, ran into that issue on the light in the door sill. Even if you get the polarity correct, the SAM Cab will set a fault for low current/open circuit and disable it until it's fixed. LED's pull a lot less current. You'd have to rig up a resistor in parallel so the LED + resistor has the same current as the incandescent bulb. Last I knew, there were no parameters that could be changed to recognize an LED bulb for dome lighting, but there was talk of adding that option in a future firmware update, I don't think it has happened yet.

I have 2012 cascadia, and i replaced ALL lights with LED's from walmart. No issues with SAM, everything works. I didn't replaced lights in the lower part of the door or red lights overhead. The cheaper LED's i got from ebay didn't work.
