I'd appreciate any thoughts on Schneider and A. Duie Pyle for new drivers. A key factor is predictable home time as I balance family. Any other thoughts would be helpful. I live near Worcester, Mass. Thanks.

I drive intermodal out of the Shrewsbury MA yard. I love it so far. You can make good money. I grossed $1347 without even trying. They will keep you running. As far as home time you will get set days off. I work tues-sat. I normally get home Saturday at 4pm. I run NE regional. If you live in or near Worcester you can be home a few times during the week on top of your days off. Some guys get home every night. I live to far to make that happen. Hope this helps

Thanks for letting me know, that's very helpful. I'd definitely like to better understand what home time could be as I live nearby to the Shrewsbury, MA yard. Also, did you start with Schneider? I'm assessIng as a new driver (plan to get my CDL in December. Thanks.

No I'm an experienced driver. Like I said you will get the same 2 days off a week. If you plan right you can be home just about everyday. Its a good place to work. They take care of the Intermodal drivers. Your day starts and ends at the rail yard in Worcester unless you get stuck at a customer who takes forever to load.

    Peterbilt15 Thanks this.

I see Schneider looking for intermodal drivers around where I live, Scranton, PA area. The pay they have listed is like $980 a week but home every day. Does that sound right? Seems like a big difference from the $1300 you are making. Any information about the Scranton/Wilkes barre, PA area would be great.

Any one with intermodal experience out of Green Bay, WI? I will be leaving the military in a few months and this looks like something I would like to do.

I'm only telling you what I have made. I work out of the Worcester yard. Its a pretty good job. I do regional so I get mileage and container pay along with live load/unload pay. It all adds up by the end of your 5 days. I don't know how the daycab guys get paid

I've only worked intermodal for Schneider. Night shift local is the big money maker in Chambersburg. Not sure what the others are making, but on nights I usually gross between $1,500 - $2,500 per week. My biggest week I ran 6 days and grossed $2,645 and was home every day. My only complaint is that we only run out of the CSX yard. We would have much more freight opportunity if we could pull out of the NS as well.

Wow that's great money. Chambersburg/Harrisburg is where I would be hauling out of I assume if I join on. I will have to look into this further. Thanks for the information.
