I have a good friend that is currently losing his s*** over a failed pre-employment drug test at PTL. He has no accidents, no moving violations, steady work history, and a clean DAC report (aside from the failed drug test) and over 2.5 years experience.

Is his career completely through or is there some glimmer of hope for the man? I don't know what to tell him because I haven't been in this situation but maybe someone on here has.

People who fail or refuse a drug / alcohol screen can go through the "return to duty" program which requires treatment through a SAP (Substance Abuse Professional). Once completed, that person would legally be allowed to be employed in a safety sensitive position i.e. a CMV driver. Costs for seeing a SAP are typically the responsibility of the driver unless the company want to shell out the money for it.

That being said, there are not a lot of employers that will hire someone with a failure or refusal even after a completion of a return to duty program.

    Any reason for the failure?
Yeah, I know...he pissed dirty...that's a given. I'm curious as to the specifics.
