I was going to put off writing about my experiences with Decker until I had been withthem a little loner. However, I am on my 4th drop on this run, need to sleep but can, t so maybe writing will help lull me to sleep.
My training was great and my trainer was a very good instructor. He took the time to teach me the whys and hows instead of just telling mewhat to do. I feel 100 percent more comfortable with my abilities than I did at the beinning of the month.
Backin, still working on that, especially tight spots. Guess I need to practice in an empty lot with road cones. Truck school on backing doesnt even touch everyday situations.
Anyway, I picked up m my truck last week, 2012 Volvo Midroof, 13 speed. Ad my first experience driving on snow from cheyenne to billings. Starting to float the gears. On my way to Portland, and be off next week for New Years.
Well, just wanted to give ashout out to DTL, my trainer, driver manager, staff and other drivers that have helped me out during this transition. You all be safe. See you on the road....
Decker, so far, so good.....

I work for them, and there was no hair test.

Thanks -
Also @ iowasooner do they have the driver facing cameras at decker and are they going to auto transmissions as many of the carriers are?
-
No on the cameras, but maybe in the future. All the new trucks are automatic, and yes they train right out of school, I think it's a month, but mostly depends on the trainee.

I'm on the flatbed side and home weekly, after a lot of raising hell, my miles are coming up, I'm averaging 2000 miles a week. On the reefer side I really don't know anything, except they haul a lot of Tyson.

No hair test...miles were good at first, 2700 to 3200/week, but started dropping below 2000/week...I will never do reefer again, much less Tyson...too much wasted time sitting and waiting then have to rush to make appointment time...to each his own, but I found my calling...2000-2500 miles/week, I get paid for working out, usually out 5 days then off 2-3....
