I've been meaning to ask this for a long time now and kept forgetting.

I have 2 pigtales for power coming out the back of my Columbia. I bought the truck from my carrier and asked him what the second pigtale was for?? His response to me?

"I dont know" "Play with it and see what it does"

My trailer has 2 plugs for 2 pigtales. I plugged the 2nd pigtale into the other port to see if it did anything. If it does,.. I have no idea what it does. The trailer does not have any extra lights or strobes on the rear. I thought maybe it was to power strobe lights or something. The trailer does not have any other external power plugs either. The regular flat I had before the step I have now had a plug in the rear for plugging strobe lights in, yet did not have the 2nd plug like this one does.

So what the heck do I have,. and whats it for?

Always wanted to put a 2nd one on for extra toys. I assume you've already taken a test light to the leads.

I have 2 on my truck as well, the second one operates lift/dump axles on most of our trailers. I have a dedicated lift/dump switch then have a couple of the other pins wired to +12v switches on the dash that I use to power OD lights etc.

I have 2 pigtails. One is the normal pigtail that all trucks have. The other is to power a steerable trailer.

On my truck the second one was/is for antilock brake systems on some trailers. Its a 2000 379 pete. I've never had to use it for that. IIRC when they first came out with abs there was worries about powering up that circuit. Now they just get power off the brake light circuit when you step on the brake. I used to use mine for running extra lift axles on my trailer
