They have disabled the 'Performance' feature, but that just burns extra fuel...

On the Volvo iShifts, the removal of the performance mode is a factory option, so it comes with a different shifter. You can also remove the kickdown feature, all in the name of fuel economy.

I was talking about the DT12. I read the factory brochure about its features/operations, and it stated something to the effect that the Performance mode could be disabled, but nothing about the kickdown feature. I really enjoy the DT12, sometimes its a little fast in reverse but overall its been a pleasure to drive.TruckDuo Thanks this.

I know, I was just assuming Freightliner had the same factory options on theirs.

U.S. Express has been waffling back and forth on autshifts for a long time. They used to have a rather sexist ad campaign bragging about being an all auto fleet, trying to attract female drivers. That was about 15 years ago when they had freightliner centuries with Eaton fuller 10 speed autoshifts. They are one of the first companies to embrace autoshifts on a large scale.
