    My girlfriend and I are starting with Covenant after we complete driving school. Can anyone offer some advice on how to be successful with this company? Also, can anyone answer these questions;

    1. Do you have to complete a 34hr reset while being a team driver?

    2. Are you allowed to idle the truck to be comfortable when stopped for reset or waiting on shipments? Do they have APUs?

    3. What are the miles like once you are on your own?

    4. What kind of load and stops do you have with them?

    Thanks,

    I can answer a couple.
    2. You can idle the truck as much as you want. They will send you snarky little messages threatening to charge you if you are over a certain percentage which you will be. And they will charge you. Best I could get out of them is about 25 bucks a week per Person. I never saw an APu on any company truck.

    3. I don't remember how many miles per week we ran but we did lots of coast to coast runs.

    4. Loads were mostly drop and hook with a few live loads. Some will be super smooth and some will suck gigantically.

Don't be afraid to ask your fleet manager questions. Especially when it comes to money. They may not tell you what you need to do to get paid in a certain situation. If you don't speak up and ask em oh well more money for them.
They are a fairly decent place to work for starting out. My old co driver still works there and is happy.

I can't remember exactly. I was there in 2012. I think we averaged 700 a week take home. Sometimes more sometimes less. We had a couple 1000 dollar checks. We were splitting .28 cpm at first then I think it was .34 cpm. That means you make say .14 cpm when you drive and .14 cpm when your partner drives. Something like that. It sounds like peanuts and it is but it adds up.
Get your hazmat if you don't already.

Is it possible with them to do 4-5 weeks out and then come home for a week?

    Dreg1978 Thanks this.

When I worked there it was one day off for every 7 days out. I heard somewhere that they changed that to one day off for every 6 days out.

edit - its 7 days off for every 6 weeks out.

I recently used to work for them. For a starter company im happy with my choice to go with them. Funny thing is they were my last choice since all the other companies turned down my app. Working for them ended up being a good decision though.
Biggest complaints for me are cancelled loads, sitting all day at times, new fleet manager every 6 months. There will be times when you have to sit... Also if you need something fixed on your truck/trailer in california only choice is the shop at the petro/TA. I HATE petro/ta ontario when it comes to trailer/truck repairs....covenant doesnt have company maintenance shop in california...which really sucks because petro/ta have lazy workers who take forever.
The miles were good pulling reefers for them. Their pay is actually not too bad for students. They have some really good fleet managers, as well some not so great fms...from what ive heard.

Try not to bother your fleet manager too much unless its vital...they are busy working on loads for everyone. Qualcomm is the best way to communicate. Email is another great option to contact the higher-ups if issues dont get resolved.
