Hate this brokerage.
First to start off, as a driver for a company they were very rude and not good on communication. Ok.
Second as an owner operator their reciever ####ed up on the product and they tried to make me deliver about 800 miles for less than $400. When I said no, they threatened to with hold any load payments that other guys leased to me were doing, so I took it like a ##### to make sure payments come in for other guys.
Now they stole another direct account from me. Had a nerve to call me and offer to me for a price I wouldn't even entertain. Laughed at my rate, which I lowered down so much for this customer.
If you work for CH, please don't ever meet in person. If you ever call on my truck. Call my insurance cause it won't be delivered since we're being dirty. ####ing pathetic piece of ####s.

It's easy call someone to buy the load,have them call you and say this is Chris broker we redirect the load to this warehouse .record the phone call.del load turn in paperwork oh and call real broker and say you del load to the address you called to change. But wair a day before the call

Here's my break down on CHRW.
1) Call them inquiring on a load in a bad market. 99 times out of 100 it will be a terrible low ball offer with the 1 time being a marginal rate. You might negotiate a little extra on that 1 and some of the others but mostly forget it.
2) In a so-so market 98 times out of 100 it will be a terrible low ball offer with 1 time being a marginal offer and 1 being good. On maybe 5 of that 100 you might actually negotiate a substantially higher rate if you are a good listener and know what to listen for playing off of that.
3) In a smoking hot market 9 out of 100 will have marginal offers with the majority being low balled. 1 of those 9 might have a very good offer as always with those rarer kind that is your clue to be unwaveringly firm on your rate (as they can maddeningly be with their endless cheap loads) with potential there to score several hundreds or even a thousand or 2+ thousand over typical rates. So don't be a weasel when you hear that conversation. They don't lose out like that often but they have very deep pockets indeed when their back is to a wall.
These are just general approximations - seat of the pants so to speak - on my part from a LOT of inquiries to and from them over the past few years with dry van freight. Conclusion I have reached is that it's pretty much a complete waste of time to ever call them looking for a good rate out of anything.
The best way to score great paying loads from them is to be posted up and take their calls because probably 98% of what they have is always going to be cheap. I have also had good success with email inquiries but again you will sift thru a LOT of chaff to get any wheat there too.
You will be low balled more often than not even when they call you first but it is a great way to eliminate wasted phone calls as in general they rarely call posted trucks in ANY market conditions from what I have seen.
That is why I always said they are the very best in the business at what they do. Now if you need to go somewhere and are competitive rates wise they always seem to have freight going pretty much any direction you could ever want to go. If you specialize and make the right connections with the right people there that can also lead to lucrative repeat business at times.Last edited: Nov 15, 2015

I have a friend that works with CHR. Been working together since he started there. Any CH Load that I see, or ask him for the area, I always get great money. One time I took 1.40 which he told me it was ####, but it's all they had, and I insisted on it since a driver needed to be home. But I just hate the fact they took my direct customer. LOL

1), it always good to have one Company you will never work for.
2), Its always good to have one Company whom its clear in your mind your relationship will never sour...(we'll just wont work together on this single load).
3), Its always good to have the idea...when talking with a Company that you can choose to permanently not work with them...but, decide that today we'll just not work together on that single load.
