Flatbed may be a good option too. From my limited experience alot of flatbed shippers and consignees work banker hours. I see more flatbed companies that advertise weekends home then van companies. Rohl has good hometime options and training but then you have a contact.

As for dealing with the wife. My parents were divorced when I was 2 and my wife has a child from a previous marriage. I think a lot of divorced parents just stop talking to each other and turn everything into a fight. I say just talk to her. My wife and here ex have had several visitation changes and cross country moves that were settled out of court. Some did require mediation but most were just talking and they do not have a good relationship. He hates her for leaving him. So from my experience not knowing your details I say just talk to her but do get any agreements in writing signed and witnessed.

Do you HAVE to drive OTR? There are plenty of home daily jobs out there that work 4/10's and could work with you. I do home daily flatbed and stuff like that wouldn't be a problem at home for me. Before this I was working P&D for an LTL and tons of guys had schedules like that, wasn't a problem at all because somebody else would just pick up that day. There's typically more money and more flexibility in the local stuff with some exceptions for very specialized gigs. Don't forget construction companies as well.

Farnerbocken here has a 4/10 work schedule .they deliver to small businesses.they have an ad every week.I have filled out many applications but I'm guessing my poor work history is why they won't call me.but I look at it this way its clear to me they can't keep drivers why not give me a chance.next job I get I'll deffinately be there for the long haul I have too many bills not to.

"Schneider" and "Roehl Transport" and "de Boer Transportation" have flexible work schedules and hire new CDL grads.
Most flexible work jobs you won't make big paychecks though.
Several companies have weekends at home but may have to get home real early Saturday morning in the wee hours then leave out Sunday afternoon.

Check Burkhart Enterprises in Knoxville. Maybe they will consider your experience back home.

WRONG, don't have to go otr, don't have to pay dues. Straight out of school I got on with a small local company. Home every evening, off everyweekend and holiday. Work 45 to 55 hrs a week and make 50k a year. And I got this job with 3 speeding tickets on my record one of them 19 over. If I can do it anyone can if they have the motivation.

I think it depends on the market, in chicago it is easy, I had 3 offers before I picked a job and still had companies calling after I accepted my job. But I also got off my ### and filled out at least 20 applications, it's about motivation and drive.

Look at Keim TS they are a flatbed carrier out of Kansas but have a Terminal in Jasper Tennessee. They have weekly home time ( they say) and since they require drivers to live in the same state as there terminal for that very reason to get them weekly home time.. I talked with them recently (last week) but it was not a fit for me because they actually have mandatory home time and I have no home time requirements. Because they are also a fairly small fleet (150 trucks) they may consider your experience from back home.. They are a flatbed carrier and do not run west of colorado nor do they go into Canada. They also have a training program for load securement and when u go with a trainer it will be a trainer from your area to adhere to there home time policy.

    Good luck.

Also I believe Wel Companies Inc and Transport America both have 7 on 7 off and 4 on 4 off programs. Meaning you drive for 4 or 7 days then have 4 or 7 days . I am not 100% so you may want to check into. Might work for you.
