Once you get experience Schneider sounds like a good place to lease. The main reason being you dispatch yourself, so you're not depending on someone else for loads. I think there would still be a learning curve in dispatching yourself though.

I am very aware that TransAm (from Research and this thread) is a starter company in more ways then people needing a second chance. Like me I have had to come to the realization that the most important thing for me is experience.. However I would like that experience to come from a decent company and thats why I chose TransAm . While No it doesn't pay the greatest and I have heard the bad experiences. so at the very least I have some idea of what to expect` Thanks to all

    have you seen their ad?

In the example they use they show a possible profit of $0.42!
When you factor in paying higher in taxes as an IC, higher healthcare costs, no paid vacation.. etc etc you'll earn less than a company driver.. a lot less in some cases.

Isn't the point of taking on the responsibility of paying for and running a truck to have a lot more freedom and make a lot more money vs a company driver? or is it just me lol

I have thought about leasing but I can't commit to staying out. I wish you good luck Big Papaxx. I'm happy with my .38 cpm as a company driver.

I tried Transam but I wasn't comfortable after only 9 days of otr training. Sometimes I think I should have toughed it out at Transam. The swaps would have drove me crazy though. I didn't have to do swaps with Swift Dollar Tree plus it was good weight loss program.

Thanks. yeah that is why I am going lease is lease does not deal so much with swaps. But then you have other things.. .38 cpm doesnt sound bad or at least is above many I have seen.... I can at the very least get the experience i need to go where I want to.. Congrats on the weight loss

I left Dollar Tree about two years ago. I went otr and drive an auto. I gained the weight back. I only did it for about four months. I got lazy.

Even lower than Swift which says something.
There's taking risk and there's being dumb. The math just isn't there at .84, no money there![/QUOTE]
I whole heartedly agree. Thats what I was saying in my original post on this thread. It just doesnt seem to be mathematically possible to be successful with those cpm...Even if you burnt out your clock everyday. Nice looking trucks though.

But my question as someone New if they have 1400 tractors and more than 700 of those tractors are leased how is it possible that all of them are dumb or failing?? It isn't possible. even if you use the 77% failure rate of leases industry wide but we will use it for Trans Am. So 700 leased tractors if 77% failed or dumb because they will fail that is 539 failed which leaves 161 leased trucks that are making money or breaking even or just wont give up??? TransAm has been around since 1987 almost 30 years. I am merely trying to figure it out.. Since I will be going to transAm in January and yes I plan on leasing.. ( now before you all tell me how terrible that decision is) I decided to lease long before I decided to go to Trans Am and while I have no intentions of failing I also am in a position that if that should happen I will be just fine. But I am sure you can understand my question. It is 84 cpm loaded and unloaded. 100% fsc which I was told runs at about .19 cpm.
