    Back to the original post. If he hit a pole on the customers lot why did they feel the need to call the police? Seems it could have been handled by suppling the trucks insurance information to the customer without involving the police.

    you would think so wouldn't you but some businesses always call the police no matter how small the damage is.

    In Chicago police wont even show up for an accident on private property unless there is an injury. Its not a police matter, it is an insurance matter.

    A few weeks back I had a downtown delivery, maybe 4 am, on the South side. Backed into a building but the cab was still on the street. From there until I got back on the Interstate, I was actually shocked by the number of police cars I saw riding past.

    This is how common carriers put fear into the Drivers....

    All accidents are preventable according to the big brains in the safety department. You the Driver, will get blamed for any damage to their truck, for the reason you were in it when something happened regardless who or what is the cause.

    Your Safety Rating is a double edged sword....it either helps you or hurts you.
