$38,000 to $45,000 1st year average, miles is around 2500 Some weeks higher some weeks lower.

Only thing I never understand about truck drivers I would rather get paid more drive less then drive more get paid less. But hey what ever

Thanks for the info. I'd rather know now how bad the pay is rather than be surprised down the road. Not to say it's that bad. I'm wondering if swift will pay more if I stay or if I should just use them to get verifiable experience and then jump ship

Stay long enough 1 yr. Ish and jump ship.
After a yr. You shouldn't settle for any thing less than 40cpm

    I think Jim Palmer is .40 cpm + .05 cpm bonus = .45 cpm
    Waggoners is .50 cpm
Don Hummer is something like .52 cpm which includes fuel bonus.
Earl Henderson starts newbies off at .38 cpm with a guarantee of paid for no less than 2100 miles weekly.
Plenty more in those pay ranges.

OP, about your formula. I don't multiply times 52 because we don't get paid for any of the days we take off and with swift your vacation pay won't be nearly what you earn on the road. Any day you're home whether it's dentist appointments, personal days or holidays etc you won't get paid. I usually take however many weeks vacation I have and add another week on top of that to account for the extra days.

I started exactly a year ago with eastern european outfit out Chicago and they paid me 50c a mile +$20 each stop except first and last counted weekly,no benefits.Weekly I was making 3000 miles on average assuming 5 days week.ok sometimes it was 6 days a week but that's because i was slacking coming back to Chicago for weekend.Sure they were trying trying to screw me on miles at first (you know program is counting miles lol) but i write down every run and told them if so they need to put this program behind the wheel.Since then miles didn't vary more than 20 miles compared to my calculation.lol So I would say if you don't make at very least 1200 a week your job blows.

And let me add that contrary to what some posters here say about east europeans I would never ever drove a truck for .35 a mile. Not worth all that stress and ########.You can do better doing some construction trade at entry level and you won't be treated worse than a dog by everybody around you.

    Stress?
    I'm wondering about that.

What real stress do we have on this job, aside from the stress we impose on ourselves.

And I'm really serious about that.
This is probably the least stressful job I have ever had.
That includes being a waiter and bartender, security officer, computer tech, dishwasher...

Stress from Swift to make more miles, idle less, accept loads as offered...?
    Nope.
I run as I like, within the hours I like - for the most part.
Idle times are not even an issue. I idle as I really need to, period.
I don't accept any load that gives me too little time. I adjust the times to my liking with Mac 9, and if the system doesn't like it the load is removed with no questions asked. Then I'm sent another pplan, which I might like a lot more.
    Simple.

And I've never felt like I've been treated worse than a dog - by anyone in Swift.
Some other jobs I've had, yes. But not here.

All I have to do is keep the appointment times that I have agreed to.
And how hard is that, barring something not in my control slowing me too much. And then it is only a Mac 22 to clear the way.

All it takes is to learn the system.
And it is a pretty simple system.

You are kidding right? When I am 15 minutes late for appointment it sometimes is a huge deal but when I am waiting 7 or 8 hours to get loaded or unloaded nobody cares.I am unexpected to be at 3 am at some warehouse but they will not allow me to get there earlier and wait there. I may be exhausted but they don't give a ####.That's not being treated worse than a dog?You must not have any self respect sir.As for the rest of your points,I am sure you guys at Swift are being given plenty of time to make it for appointment but at the same time you are making half the miles I do.As for idling I start truck in Chicago and shut it off in Chicago 5 days later.
