Hey, lay that success strategy out on the ground. I'd love to hear it.How many miles for a grand? Where are you running? How many 41's per week? I got 8.1 on my last leg.....

I run about 3200 miles a week. I run what is available. i am currently running from lemoore to Illinois via the 80. I dont spend on eating at the truck stop. I don't usually have to do a 41 as I am usually only about 10-11 hours early which gets me my reset while I unload and then i can head straight to the next pick up. I focus on fuel. If when i plan i see it cheaper Ill only put just enough to get to that cheaper fuel. Now with winter here I know ill be seeing less abilty to do that as i like keeping them topped off in case of a delay but still dont see it hurting me that bad. If the load does not fall in the correct pay week for me then I decline it. I am lucky that I dont have to pay medical as I am on my wifes medical. as long as I get 3k miles i earn about 1k after all deductions and taxes.

Thx Crxdc. I will keep your points in mind and try to use them as much as possible. I'm in day two of orientation and am concerned about the mpg the truck I end up with will get.

I try to do the same thing also. I run between 3000-3200 miles a week. I don't turn down loads. If the delivery date doesn't match up with what I need, I will wait a day (rare occasions 2) to send the paperwork. I also don't do restarts unless I am home, sick, or shop. If the load has enough time on it for a restart, I might do one if I am feeling lazy and it doesn't screw with my pay schedule otherwise its Mac41 on that. While I do primarily fuel at Loves, I ain't no dummy and if I can get fuel for 20+ cents cheaper than Loves from a Mom and Pop, then I am going to the Mom and Pop truck stop.
I do prefer the trailers with the under tray system instead of the skirts. The trailer I picked up in Florida had the skirts on it. 43k in the box, light wind and running I-10. QC MPG was ready 7.5 at 62mph. Made a swap in Ft. Stockton, Tx with a team for a 42.5k load going to Cali and trailer has the undertray. Still running I-10 at 62mph and light winds and QC MPG reads 7.8mpg. -
See I'm the opposite. In the pete I get better milage on loads were the trailer has skirts

What is the payment on those new Pete's and KW's? Seems like I am seeing more and more with an "A" or "B" at the end of the truck number. One driver said he saw one with a "C" at the end.

Stay in the shaker. They ordered some messed up gearing. Slight up hill will slow you down to 60 in a heart beat and then you have to drop to 9th just to keep ur speed up from there.

From I have been told by the shop, the Pete's have 2.64's on the rears. Great for fuel economy, not so much for pulling a hill. I have no plans to get out of my '15 Shaker. I can pull a hill slightly better with the 3.07 rears. I have to down shift at 55mph.

Yeah its great for fuel economy on the runs where you are running flat the whole drive but once u climb a mountain you basically loose all the fuel you saved.
