Does anyone have any info on their intermodal division? I know they have a pretty bad reputation on their flatbed and van side, but being home every night is pretty tempting.
from Falcon:
The intermodal position will pay 35% of the line haul with the average line haul being $250 (you would make $87.50) with the ability to haul 3-5 loads a day (3 loads x $87.50 = $262.50 per day) and you would be home each day at the end of your shift.
It's about what I make running linehaul from Pittsburgh to JFK and EWR 3 nights a week. My healthcare will also go down to $9 a week which is a giant difference even though it most likely is a lot crappier, but I never really have needed it. Though at this point in my life burger king is more tempting than running to JFK all the time with e-logs.

Thanks for looking at us. I think you will see that the problems of the past are largely being corrected. We've purchased 155 new trucks and our safety scores are dropping quickly. Intermodal is a new division for us, but we are very excited about it. As for the health insurance, for $9 per week you would be on the same health insurance plan that my family is on. We like it. Hope to hear from you. David Henry, Chief Operating Officer, 412-759-0853.

Well 2 days before I was to leave for orientation, I got the call saying the Pittsburgh intermodal wasn't panning out and instead offered me exactly what I didn't want, an otr position. So needless to say, I'm still with my company.

I'm sorry it didn't work out. Chicago and Detroit have been stronger with Intermodal but that network will grow to Pittsburgh and Cleveland at some point soon. Take care.
