Freight demand slowing down

Seams like an odd thread to hit me up with this nugget.

 

I grew up in a ghetto. You're right. I absolutely refuse to live in one, near one, etc. When i go home, i want my peace and quiet. No crime. When urban folk grow up, I'll consider moving back to an urban area. Until then, i want my upscale suburban piece of mind where all my inalienable rights aren't constantly being attacked.

 

Come on, you don't have to be upscale to be safe. When I was poor I lived in a trailer park in the chicago suburbs. It was dirt cheap. It wasn't the nicest place. But my son was in a good school district, it was safe, no crime, no violance. I lived there 3 years. I walked my dog around late every night, the only "crime" I saw was teens smoking weed. Poor people are not bad people and not all inexpensive neighborhoods are high crime areas.
You have the right to choose where you live, you also choose how much you pay for housing.

 

I agree with you, but most of the time it is a balancing act between cost and quality of life, however you define it. You usually do get what you pay for. Different people have different limits on what they will tolerate. As my income has grown, I have crossed certain items off my list of things I will tolerate in terms of housing.

I have experienced the lowest of the low and been comfortable because that was what was required at the time and I had no other choice. I've lived in situations that would freak most people out. Places where your windshield is kicked in after you move there as a "welcome to the neighborhood" gesture. Hookers and crackheads roaming around like zombies at all hours. Where the custom on the 4th of July and New Years Eve is to unload a pistol into the air, reload and do it over and over until they jam. Not to mention the times when those "firecrackers" aren't celebratory.

It was a no-brainer crossing that stuff off the list of what I would tolerate. Over the years, I have crossed off more, and found a good balance between what I can afford and what I consider a good quality of life. I'm done with living on the set of "Cops" because I have a choice now. And for that, I'm truly grateful.

 

This has to do with the freight rate how?????

 

As I mentioned earlier, we now have 3 topics here:
Low freight volumes,
Cost of living / driver pay, and
Amazon starting their own transportation division.

I was just replying to the cost of living sub-thread we shoulda spun off a while ago. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

Oh, and my company is surprisingly busy for this time of year. Gotta have good customers who are growing in order to do well in freight right now.

 

Suppose,
Those aren't anywhere in the northeast with the exception of northern nh, Northern maine, upstate ny. Everywhere else is a failed liberal social utopia. Utter crap filled with urban trash.

 

As for freight, we will see what the next 6 months bring with election season ramping up
