I was recently diagnosed with a medical issue that prevents me from driving. Funnily enough, it's a condition I've had for almost 3 years, and have kept driving with, but now that it has a name, I can't pass the medical exam. My medical card is good for another 5 months, but my company wants me to get a new one (related to something else).
The doctor who told me this said if I could get a letter from my physician stating my condition is stable, I could apply for a waiver. With the letter and the waiver, I can go back to that doctor, and he'll re-evaluate me.
Has anyone successfully gotten a waiver? I see the requirements on the fmcsa website, but I'm not sure how to go about filling them out. They look like something a company would fill out, not the driver, so I'm a little intimidated. Also, how long did it take for you to get a waiver?

This is exactly why anyone in this industry is so afraid of getting "diagnosed" with anything now adays. It could effectively end your career and livelihood. Hope you get your waiver friend, as long as your safe to drive is all that really matters.
Puppage, Rock 'n Roll Relocater and smadronia Thank this. -

I have endolymphatic hydrops. It's most likely the result of falling out of a truck 3 years ago, as it started shortly after. Took me until October this year to get it diagnosed.
