Ok, I gotta ask .. HTH does that happen? I'm sure there is a great story to go with this crash and the delay of a number of travelers.

He lost a steer tire, article has been updated. Seems the barriers kept him from head oning a bus of nuns.

Said he blew a steer tire and forced him to hit the jersey wall. He slid along side of the wall for several hundred feet. In the process it ruptured the fuel tank and dislodged the machine.... ie chains broke.

Said he hit the jersey wall so hard it knocked one over into the other lane... blocking traffic on the other side.

The way I see it.. he did ok. This could have been much more tragic.

Down in TX I saw a variety of responses to blown steers. Usually trucks like that would keep it straight and get over onto the shoulder. The white early 2000s Freightliners with missing bumper sections and taped-on DBA signs would usually be off in the weeds somewhere. Difference in experience and training, I suppose, combined with preparation and paying attention.
