Ok, let's break this down real simple.
Day 1. Run 10.5 hours, work 2.5 (securing, PTI, fuel, etc) = 13 hours.
13 hours + 10 hour break = 0100 of day 2
Day 2, do the same. 0100+1300=1400. Finished day 2 at 2PM.
Day 3, do the same. 0000+1300=1300. Finished day 3 at 1PM.
STILL day 3, start at 2300, do the same. 2300+1300=3600 (12PM of day 4)
Keeping track of hours? So far I've used 52 and day 4 isn't finished.
Still day 4, start at 10PM. 2200+1300=3500 (11AM of day 5)
Hours used? 65.
Still day 5, start at 9PM. 2100+0500=2600 (2AM of day 6)
Ok, time for a 34. 0200+3400=3600. That puts me with 70 hours to use again--day 7 at noon.
Day 7, start at 1200. 1200+1300=2500. This puts me at 0100 of day 8.
Day 8, start at 11AM. 1100+1300=2400. This puts me at day 9, midnight. This is where you'd start getting your hours back.
Let's see how many hours I've worked in 8 days, versus how many those that prefer to run 8.75 hour days and never run out of the 70.
1300+1300+1300+1300+1300+0500+1300+1300=9600
Ok, I worked 96 hours in a period where you could work 70 hours by doing 8.75 hour days. I worked 37% more hours than those who prefer to run 8.75 hour days. I also had a full 34 hours off to rest and enjoy myself. Eat a real meal in a restaurant, feel like a human being, watch a few movies, #### chat with some fellow drivers, you know the deal. I'd also like to point out that 96 hours is exactly half of 8 days, meaning I averaged 12 hours a day, even taking a full day off. I could've raised the average by throwing away those 5 hours and just doing my reset right then, since a 5 hour day is going to earn me about as much as my meals are going to cost me.
I don't complain about the situations. No time left to drive? I earned money, and I #### well earned the break I'm going to take.
Drive late? I prefer driving at night; less 4-wheelers, less trucks. Reset away from home? I wouldn't stay out 3-4 weeks at a time if I was eager to be doing my resets at home. I earn good money the 3-4 weeks, and have enough to have a blast when I go home. Last weekend was my birthday; I went to the Casino Friday night, 3 clubs and a "gentlemen's club" Saturday night, cruising around Sunday night (I enjoy the leisure drive), and got laundry and stuff done on Monday. Here I am on the road again, on the way to Florida.

Actually, it is - if you use the split-berth logging. 2 hours off (lines 1 and/or 2), you can reset your 14 (not your 11). At the end of your 11, though, you have to take 8 on line 2.

Ah, I see you got yourself one of them Honda loads. US 59 North to Houston (or I-35 North to San Antonio if you prefer), I-10 East to Baton Rouge, I-12 East to Slidell, LA; I-59 North to Wildwood, GA; I-24 East across Chattanooga, then I-75 North, Exit 72, turn left, facility is about 1/4 mile or so on the right. Live unload only for the body panel loads from Laredo, unfortunately. The D/H is for outbound loads going to Portland, OR or Windsor Locks, CT or Irving, TX or French Camp, CA.
If you want, you can swing by my place (it's about 3 miles or so out of your way, just south of Chattanooga) and pick up a nice blank logbook; I still have one left from when I cleaned out my truck at the Spartanburg terminal a week ago. I've also got some expense vouchers and scan cover sheets. Speaking of which, I suppose I should scan the paperwork from that last load I delivered before I quit USA...oops!

If you stop for 2 hours and log it as off duty or sleeper it does not EXTEND the 14 hour clock. You will still need to shut down # or before the 14th hour is up. Now at the 14th hour you have 2 options. 1) take a full 10 hour break or 2) take an 8 hour sleeper break if you take the 8 option you must understand how to split break. It's not that simple. Read the thread on split breaking. I just don't have time
