Passed weigh station

When I pulled for SRT, if you had hazmat, it was company policy to pull into any open scale, regardless of bypass signal. I had bear absolutely chew on my butt for doing just that in Mississippi once. After that I went by DOT rules not company policy.

 

What gate?

 

Usually there is a sign that says "prepass follow in cab signal " or something to that affect.

 

If the sign says CLOSED, what more do you need to know ????

Had something interesting happen today. Came up on the westbound scale on 40 in Arizona. No light from the pre pass (green or red) but the lighted sign said "TRUCK BYPASS WEIGH STATION". It was open as there was a truck on the platform scale but I decided to follow the sign. Nobody chased me. I know you're supposed to follow what your transponder says regardless of whether it says to bypass or not but in this case I let the sign dictate since my pre pass gave no signal.

 

That one is open 24/7/365. Same as the POE in NM going the other way is.

 

Maybe they should make a special sign for anyone who is unsure with basic CLOSED. Sometimes special people need special signs..because I understand the problem. You got one light saying Green and another saying Red but a sign saying Maybe! Oh the headache!
