unfortunatly conventional designed trucks are designed for.... six in line.

We tried to fit MB OM502 engine (V8) in columbia, but.... we had to cut bonnet.

    But it fits KRAZ well!!!!

People say V8 engines fit old Mack trucks too.

    But usually not KW.

It look like this engine has head on each cylinder.
This is very old technology, because camshaft is in to the cylinder block, not in to the head, like modern engines.

The only way to get a V8 in a KW conventional from factory back in the day was in the extended hood W900A's. You could get the V8 Cat, Cummins, Detroit and the V12 Detroits.

Same with a pete. The Mack Superliner could take just about any motor, but the hood was 8 feet wide

Strangely enough the KW factory in Australia would only fit the CAT 3408 in a cabover but not a conventional. They used to fit the GM 12V71s in cabovers and conventionals, same with the big Cummins K19.

Yeah, the early Superliner was big alright. Not like the new one with the Volvo, err sorry, Mack engine.

Same here when the engine was first released, but then it was eventually dropped into the W900A extended hood, there are no standard hood options as the air compressor would need to be in the cab with you for it to fit, this could be why you only see cabover only fitment.

Only engines that were not available in a standard hood were the 12v71 and 3408, the 8v71/92 and 903 were available in standard hood trucks.
