Coming from a farm, just looking will give me the weather report for where I'm at for at least 6 hours. The problem is, 6 hours later I'm 350 miles away. Anyway, I'll try to post to this thread after I try the radio out tomorrow. I'm still not sure why my ANT light would come on when my SWR is sitting at around 1.5:1.

    Muleskinner Thanks this.

Sure thing. I was going to buy something more expensive, but it's online and for some reason I can be willing to pay $400 for an item but when I see a $15 shipping charge I cancel the order. Maybe it's because I'm in the shipping industry? Heck, I don't know. Did the same thing with my cell phone. Ordered one of the new Sprint phones with direct connect that operates over EVDO and when the said there was a $12 shipping/handling charge, I said to cancel the order and I'll just drive to a store. That one benefitted me, though--they gave me a $25 credit on my bill to cover the $12 shipping charge. :)

You know,I used to be just like you,but about 8 or 9 years ago I started buying saddles left and right off Ebay and reselling them around here.I got used to the ripoff shipping charges some of those folks charge and it doesn't seem to bother me as bad anymore.Used to drive me crazy tho'.:biggrin_25510:

I can understand your concern but some CB radios only bring in certain (major) areas for the weather forecast, don't they:scratch:?

You have a computer so my question is... Why can't you download the weatherchannel.com on your desktop check the radar before you roll?

You can also (depending on you provider) load it on your phone. ;-).

    Just wondering.

I only get online at home, I really like the NOAA weather channels before I bought this truck I spent EVERY minute of free time on the water, so I really enjoy the offshore marine forecasts as well.
Sometimes driving out of Detroit I will turn off the radio and just listen to the marine stuff, I have been lucky enough to fish many parts of lake Michigan and Erie so I know whats going on out there.
I have it and enjoy it.....WORKS for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I use the NOAA site at the house or Weatherunderground .The only time I really use the weather band on my scanner is if the nasty stuff is right on top of me and then I switch back to scan because the cops tell each other whats going on car to car with the weather anyway.

Just wanted to update you guys on the CB. Overall, it's pretty nice. A few things bother me, though.
    -That ugly mic.
-The bright display (though I like blue)
-The callers can hear what they say on delay (echo).
-The compatability with my phone. Every bluetooth device I've had required one push and my phone would ask me what I want it to do. I don't know what one button does with this phone. If you hold the button, it makes some noise and brings up the last number I called, but I can't get it to dial that number. To get my phone's voice prompt ("Say a command"), I have to push the BT button on the mic twice.
-The squelch/NB/ANL. My Uniden PC78 Elite I can just set in the area of how far I want to hear and it works very well overall. I find myself adjusting this one a lot, just trying to avoid the little bits of static that come through and chatter so faint it's not worth listening to.
-That #### antenna light is STILL coming on. My SWR was sitting at 1.25:1 this morning and the light STILL comes on! 1.5, good. 1.25, really good. What gives?

I could probably fix the echo problem with a directional microphone (it has a plug-in on the back, I believe it takes the standard 3.5mm jack). It plays a nice little tone when your phone rings.

Any questions, feel free to ask.
