Of course, they never talk about governing four-wheelers.

    #######!!!!

5000 deaths involving big trucks....fails to mention the fact that only a MINORITY percentage of these accidents are the fault of the big truck.

    These stupid parents...
####### your son would still be dead if the speed were 68!!!!!!!!!

I hate moron family members with vendettas against things....

While I feel for the family that lost their son and feel bad for any family who loses someone they love, this isn't the way to help.

What they should go after are dumba$$es.

Really - if you have an IQ in the single digits, they shouldn't give you a license, or if you prove yourself to be less intelligent than the average bit of seaweed washing up on the beach, same thing. They suspend and take away your license for all kinds of goofy things unrelated to driving, so why not that? If drivers were required to be someone attentive and intelligent, that would go a lot farther than slowing down big rigs and it would make the roads safer for all of us.

You have to wonder what the dipsh*t driver was thinking w/ his cruise control set in a place where there were lights on the road...

I agree 100% with you AND if your plan was implemented it would kill two birds with one stone.

    1) It would make the roads much safer for all of us to get rid of drivers whose IQ was in the single digits

    2) If you banned drivers with single digit IQs from the road,it would put Swift,Werner,England,Prime and a whole bunch more companys out of biz because 95% of their drivers would then be banned from the road.:biggrin_255:

I have no trouble with going 60 to 65 mph. Partly for safety. Partly for the rise in fuel costs. Of course shippers are going to have to realize that sometimes JIT will have to go to heck.

Right you are about the JIT. And the shippers will scream and so will the receivers.. To bad!! But we need to slow down the cars. Most truck are lucky to be able to run over 70.. I run at about 65 my self that way I'm off the brakes and I'm fast enough to pass the slow guys... Being an x flatdriver I change lanes early, Don't want to dump the load...

True, here is a chart taken directly from the government causation study of the fatal accidents.

Less than 1% due to vehicle failure. Guess our trucks aren't so "unsafe" after all.
