I understand there is cheap freight around [and those who will haul it] but this level of cheap freight is not hardly the "norm". Which brings me back to my original point, the "cheap freight" is usually associated with the "longer" freight, and the better paying freight (per mile) has always been the shorter regional/local freight which is why the guys hauling the short freight are generally better off to take the percentage option if available (assuming the carrier is in the business to turn a profit rather then to break even)
But with the short high-dollar freight, often comes more sitting and more dead-heading so one needs to look carefully at ALL the factors and pros and cons and weigh it out and see what works out best in the long run, with certain assumptions and averages.Fajo Thanks this.
