@Hurst , If we "just fit in" we'll be up in the other section of this forum. The reason we do what we do is because we don't fit in. I'm a nice guy most of the time, have a pretty peaceful personality most of the time. Put me at a lunch counter with those guys up there and I'm getting called a "single brown eye" among other names as the manager is asking me to leave.

Chains are going to rust whether you have a cabinet or not, if you use them. Here is the setup on my truck.

Notice the step welded to the box mounting bracket? Small box on driver's side i use for lubricants and coolants. The passenger side has flags, banners, bungee cords, tools etc. Ths box between the rails is where I put the co3d for the light bar and a set of jumper cables.

My 1/2" chains are short sobthose go in the box by the headache rack along with the binders.

Every time I go into the restaurant, I sit at the lunch counter. Waitresses love me. Those guys that hate you hate me because I know what hand they're dealing with. Dispatchers hate me because I can recite word by word all the chapters in the 'Dispatching for Dummies' by JJ Keller, and so I am immune. I am hated most by women drivers, because I am not a horndog or a bootysniffer, and contrary to what they may believe, I do not want anything from them. Absolutely nothing. Nope, not even a freebie.

I don't fit in. I don't want to fit in. We are not here for a popularity contest.

Now @Hurst, my job is problem solving. You are having problems, right? Do you really want a solution? Your being a Mod was not the problem because if it was, the problems would have ended by now, correct? Things are not going to go back to where they were. You have to try something new.

There was this goofy woman driver, that thought that because she was a woman, she could get her way. She had the bootysniffers around her hanging on her every word. So I am sitting chatting with another driver, she comes up demanding 'all eyes on her'. Wasn't even cute, but even if she was, I'm not about to be a bootysniffer. So then she tells me that I must be afraid of her because she is a woman and I feel threatened. I laugh and told her that the biggest difference between a man and a woman is that you can't hit a man in the eye and make him fall in love. That ended that conversation. But the next time I saw her, she had something else to say, and then gets hurt when I said my part. So it's me picking on her in her mind. She believed that I was attacking her. I laughed and told her that she doesn't rate that high in my thoughts for me to attack. That wasn't an attack, that was me flicking a booger.

Anyways, part of the problem you are having is caused by you. No one attacked you on this thread.

    "But Six, they could have..."

No one did. Well I had to doublecheck after your second post and I didn't see one. You say that you want this stuff to stop right? So why did you start it up again?

"Well, I have a hot temper and..."

That's a sign of weakness. Grow stronger. Cool head prevails. It takes TWO to tango. If you don't want to tango, stop volunteering.

You blamed your truck being down on the reason you were so short with the members in the heavyhaul picture thread. They didn't attack you, you attacked them. That stretch load pic with the divisible load. someone pointed it out and you went defcon 3. You did, not them. You drew first blood. Now what's got everyone else heated is other members banged heads with you, got a PM from admin, banged heads again and they're gone and you're still here, still doing the defcon 3 dance.

Like I said, I am a problem solver. I look for solutions. On this thread, you posted your opinion. That's fine. But you can't do your opinion when it comes to regs and not expect negative feedback. Understand how that works?

One more thing...sometimes, you ask a question and argue with the answer. That is maddening. I'm giving you the answer to your problem. Odds are you will not like it. That's fine, I can ignore you. The thing that I really don't want to see is another one of my guys get banned because of differences with you. My guys are tough. They will call a spade a spade. They do it every week and twice on Sundays.

Readers Digest Version: there isn't a conflict until you make it a conflict.

I wish I could go back and take back everything I said in that heavy haul post. Cant and it is what it is. All I can do is deal with the after effects.

I felt that if I gave up the mod status that it would remove any tention there was with the members I was/am having issues with. It has not. So I am honestly trying to watch how post and not say anything that may create more tention between myself and those I have offended. I dont think I can do any more than that at this point. I am not trying to make excuses for my past behavior. I screwed up. I am man enough to stay here and say I did and I will continue to be vigilant in my efforts to keep the peace.

As for your guys getting banned.. I honestly had nothing to do with Canuck getting canned. Ask Oscar and Patrick... they wont lie for me. He was already on the radar to be banned for things he had said in other posts and it just so happened that the final straw happened during an argument between us. I was a sleep when it happened. When I checked the forum every was upset with me,.. accusing me of being butt hurt and getting him banned. I swear thats not how it happened. As long as I was mod I never once reported or asked for anyone I argued with to be banned. I know myself and say things in anger or frustration that I often wish I could take back. I would never hold it against anyone what someone said to me under those conditions.

All I can do is say I am sorry and keep trying make amends. Hopefully it will all become old and die away. If not...well.. like you said.. I'm still here. I am in a good frame of mind now. I will not let differences get the better of me anymore.

The only thing I'm not going to like about my open rack is when I everything gets covered in snow/ice this winter. I've got an idea for a vinal cover that is shaped and goes over the box with some way to hook it onto the sides top and bottom. For the latches I'm thinking the long skinny ones you spin 90* like some trucks have for the grill guards. Then when it's covered in snow or ice just a couple hits of a hammer would clear it off. Maybe some ice melt for the hooks.

@Hurst ice not privy to everything that went on. Don't really care. I only know 2 things. One. Your opinions and advice have been very helpful to me. You and a select few others are the reason I've been doing so well and would hate to loose you on here. Two. Whatever it is that went on I really only hear about/notice it when you bring it up. Acuna matata brother. Leave it behind ya.

What's done can't be undone. But you can try for Hurst 2.0 CoolHeadVersion. Do what you can to become a better version of yourself. If you're hot headed, work at being cool. If you have thin skin, develop iron skin. In order to do better, we have to be better.

The only thing I would have done differently is to make the lip around the chain about an inch taller. Just personal preference, nothing has ever fallen out.

Simple rack. This was my 1st truck I bought from my employer, 1990.. Day cab & the kind of work I did chains & binders stayed on the trailer. I put the winch on in 91. The light on top of the headache rack was hooked up to the horn relay & flashed when the horn honked so I could tell when my dash mounted cell phone was ringing. I had to run fast back then so I wouldnt miss a call. Flip phones came along & made life so much easier..
