Hearing This is the last month for Prime on that account and that Marten will be taking it over.

That is 95% correct. It only applies to this DC and transition starts 1/1 and ends 1/31. Prime and Walmart have mutually agreed to end this contract as Prime wanted more money because it just wasn't profitable to the level they desired for the company or the drivers and Marten offered rates below what Prime currently receives.

Hard to imagine cheaper rates for anyone out there.

Having heard what the pay structure is for Marten, I understand how they were able to underbid us. Almost nobody currently here is willing to stay for those peanuts.

I bet a lot of those drivers on that account, who are used to being home on a regular basis, will be quitting instead of going back otr for weeks at a time. I know I would.

Yeah. We are losing some. Prime is also offering some pretty hefty retention bonuses trying to get folks to stay around and then there are also some dedicated runs and accounts as well. Also, they are actually (finally) building a true southeast regional division as an option for folks that were on this account. I'm going to grab a student and go OTR for PSD and TNT and give things a little time to shake out before I decide which direction I am going. I'd rather not spend time not making money as a guinea pig while they get the kinks worked out of a new setup.

All in all, I know I've got options and I'll be fine. Just the nature of the beast. Nothing in this industry is immune from constant change.

Husband talked to an independent operator who contracted to a company paying pretty good for the loads; Marten came in and offered half to pull the loads and they gave him the ultimatum to take lower prices, he quit hauling for the company.

Wonder how long before they try and move in on the GM account in Reed City. Certainly not the 1st time Marten's pulled this with a major Prime account.

    NavigatorWife Thanks this.
