Landstar does have a requirement that your truck must be compatible to accept an EOBR device.

In case anyone is wondering the way you can quickly verify year by vin is look at the 8th digit in from the end of the VIN. Prior to 2001 it was a letter. A 1998 would be a W, so my 99 shows X, a 2000 model would be Y, then in 2001 they went to numbers. 2001 was a 1, thru 2009 being a 9. Then in 2010 they started again with letters at A, so a 2016 would be a letter G.

It is very rare for someone to work more than 72 hours a week and not be fatigued.
I was a little nervous when I got a job with elogs. Buts its pretty straight forward if your not trying to break the laws. If you are then that's another issue but I've never had a problem with them. It's nice when an officer asks to see your log book. When you tell them you're elog they skip the whole logbook check. I've heard horror stories of people getting reamed by their log book.

Quick question. What year di cat come out with the 3406E? Pretty sure it was 95. Detroit had electronic engines in 89, IIRC.

My buddy had peoplenet in his 94 379. Just needed the gps to track your location and movement

It's all fine and dandy that some of you drivers on EOBR think they are great and really no big deal. It is really nothing at all to do with driving illegal. The intrusive nature of the whole thing is what gets to me. Back in 2003 or 2004 they told us EOBR would never be implimented for all trucks. Only the bad apples who didn't do what they were supposed to. That was a lie. They want these on every truck so they can track everything and control it. It's only a matter of time until the screws get tightened a little more now that everyone is on elogs. It is just flat out wrong. And every reason put forth why they are a positive thing "save lives", or "reduce paperwork" is complete and total bull ####.

That's pretty subjective, and there are way too many variables to make that a blanket statement. This is part of the objections I've heard voiced to EOBR's (and HOS in general but that's another ball of wax), namely trying to top-down apply a one size fits all ruling to an industry where one size most definitely does not fit all.

What may fatigue Joe Driver is Dan Random's just getting started. I personally don't start to get worn out anywhere less than 85-90 hours/week. But, your mileage, physical and mental fitness, and endurance will vary.
