Hello guys and girls,
I'm about to hit 6 months with Schneider Bulk. My home OC is Savannah and I park in Atlanta. In an effort to save money I'm considering moving in with a relative in Central Pennsylvania. Problem is proximity to Schneider Bulk OCs. Both Coraopolis PA and Keasbey NJ are hours away. Carlisle van OC is 80 miles. Do any of you have any anecdotal evidence of someone with Schneider or any other companies successfully living in this area?
Schneider Bulk or others and live in Central PA?

Apologies for going off topic Leviathan. I have phone interviews with Schneider Bulk this week and I'm just finishing CDL school. The recruiter is discouraging going Bulk and says you guys are sitting alot. Another student on the forum said they closes enrolment for the year for training of recent graduates. My question is are you much slower now than a few months ago or is it about the same? Thanks.

I am not slower than earlier. Still could be busier. Don't believe rumors. Every time someone tells me one, I later find it to be untrue.
Be sure to have hazmat, TWIC and passport, if possible. I've been to Canada 4 or 5 times now. Also, I've heard drivers willing to stay out longer get sent farther afield and get more miles, but that's one of those rumors...
Good luck!Chinatown Thanks this. -
I'm graduating in less than a week. should i try to get my TWIC and hazmat now or wait until i get my license then apply? cause i heard they'll slow the process of me getting it if i apply now? is that true?Last edited: Dec 13, 2015

I don't know the answer to that. I had my license before the other two things. I don't think timing is a huge issue. I just know lots of rookies seem to have an easier time getting those things lined up before hitting thd road full time.

I got my hazmat simply by taking the test at the local DMV office. I just got my TWIC last week and it came in the mail already. I stated that I was doing it 'pre-employment' and they certainly did not slow it down at all.indo45 Thanks this.

There should be two steps to HazMat. One is taking the test to prove your knowledge. The other is getting the feds to sign off on your background check. In my case I took the test first, but it didn't go on my license until after the background check.indo45 Thanks this.
