I'm still looking at all of the well-known schools. Schneider looks good and so does Prime. I looked into C-1 aka Driver Solutions and I'm not too thrilled with what I've heard / seen. At the moment I'm looking at Maverick and Roehl. Due to working in the ministry, I like the idea of being home on the weekends (Mav.), if only for Sunday.
Too bad there isn't a school FAQ with tuition, tuition options, length of training, overall ratings, recruiter vs student comments / answers, and so forth. Any volunteers? No? ok. -
My husband was able to get a student loan he qualified for a grant as well. We didn't have to start paying back his student loan until 6 months after he graduated. I don't remember him having to pay anything out of pocket.

Have you tried to get a WIA grant from the government to cover your tuition? I got a grant and went to a local community college and it only cost me 400.00 for my training. My school was for 8 weeks. Please stay away from CDL mills. Good Luck

####!
man there is no way I'd pay 6 grand to go to school. here in NC our community college is $625.00 for the course including books! Hell Future Truckers of America is only $3,000 with financing. It is unreal what these people are having to pay to go to school.thestoryteller Thanks this. -
When I first went to college I didn't have a job for the past 3 years. I was taking out 3 different loans each semester from different places on top of a federal pel grant.
What my college did when I contacted the financial aid department is they gave me a list of banks that would allow me to get a loan. I just had to go down the list each semester to pull out new loans, it was cake.
Also, you could get the whole thing paid for with a Federal Grant if you qualify. Although, the school may require a few things (like a permit, dot physical and drug screen) that the money wont cover. I qualified for the federal grant and it pays the course in full. But I still have to get the permit, physical and drug screen done on my own. -
You don't have to sign ANY contract PERIOD.
Many companies will pay for your tuition expenses up to a certain amount over a period of time.
Stop talking to these 5000 truck con-artists and find a human being to work for.
I don't mean to discourage you but not many companies are going to be thrilled with the idea that you want to make a few bucks and then quit to do mission work...if that's what you meant?
The owners of Gainey out of Grand Rapids and Kansas City contribute to several Bible colleges...what that means, exactly?? I don't know??
Good luck and don't sell yourself short. -

As I mentioned, some people don't have much of a choice when it comes to the mills.
I hate to break this to you, but no matter what job I take, I'll have to leave eventually. Not sure why you'd bring up me "quiting" and companies not liking it. Considering I intend on being over the road for a minimum of 1 year, I wouldn't worry about it. Besides, when I leave is of my concern. Hundreds of thousands of workers start jobs without the intention of retiring - and companies are well prepared. -
most of the co paid training, you have to stay min of two years, or you owe your soul to the co. store
