Isn't a fact when they install an RFX, that the radio itself is align to stock and the RFX does the work to amplify the signal ?

That is not true. The whole radio needs to be realigned and recalibrated so that the output of the Rf X 75 has a perfect waveform on an oscilloscope and even then you are prone to harmonics which can only be seen with a spectrum analyzer. So unless your technician is even equipped with a spectrum analyzer you are wasting your time getting the extra power because those harmonics are going to hurt your performance and put you back to square one. That's why I always tell people I can take a 4 watt radio and make it out perform their thousand watt radio.

Ok...educate the newbie. If a new driver needs a solid CB, what should he buy? (I'm sure there's volumes of info elsewhere. I just thought there might be a simple answer since you all are discussing performance, etc. If this isn't the place to answer my question perhaps one of you can point me to a solid thread that can keep me from chasing rabbits.) Thanks.

If you don't believe modifications are worth the trouble.... Cobra 19 will do the job. Spend your money on a properly mounted and tuned antenna.

Just ask a fellow brother.. first off radios should be a simple choice.just like cars some are different but they all do one thing..point a to point b.. now the tune is where it gets tricky..if done right it will out different most other radios out there..now fuel ur antenna should be urban number one worry ..without it u ain't going far..pm me for all urban questions

The type of vehicle, the antenna mounting location, and lastly the type of antenna are the biggest factors that determine how far you can talk. Type of radio Is almost irrelevant. Power output is virtually irrelevant until you get into the 60 amp range. Galaxy 959 or Cobra 148 are good radios out of the box.
