Florida is the worst.... When I drove there was a tiny Tamko rolled roofing joint somewhere off 95 and a rebar place off I10 west of jacksonville.

You always want what you don't have. I used to haul flatbed and now drive reefers. I thought it'd be awesome to just sit and wait to be unloaded. I didn't realize these places take 3-4 hours to unload a truck. Gets old quick. But when its 20F out and pouring rain I'm happy to sit in the truck and wait. Running a crane to unload your flatbed by yourself gets old too.TruckerNerd Thanks this.

When it comes to OP, Door swingers do not like Flatbed guys and vise versa. "I make more Money for less work" argument always come out.
I've always said the more challenging, the more you are going to make. -
Are flatbed shippers and receivers usually on the ball as far as loading and unloading?
-
Depends on the commodity and place. Coil places are kind of the grocery warehouses of the flatbed world and can take their sweet old time simply because of the volume of trucks they see. Brick, lumber, other general flatbed shippers can sometimes be the same. Then there's those loads that simply require slow and careful loading. But, even though loading and unloading can take a while, you will very rarely be treated like the piece of dirt you will be treated as when driving van/reefer.
