I picked up a preloaded trailer and brakes and signal lights work but no running lights at all on the top or bottom and rear. The weird thing is that this is one of the new trailers. I see this problem a lot with other truck companies but this is a first time I experienced this problem myself. Is this something a TA can fix? Also is it something simple that perhaps I can fix like a fuse or a wire? I only ask since I have hometime coming up and don't want to go out of my way taking it to a speciaty shop that won't be able to fix it for a week.
i picked up a trailer without running lights

Better call Road Squad!

1st check your pigtail with a test light to see if you're putting out power. If not check your fusebox. May have poped one when you plugged it in.
If it's blown replace. If it blows again step up a couple amps but nothing crazy. If it's not blown consult TTR -
You probably just have a fuse blown or a breaker tripped.
Maybe a pin on the pigtail ain't making a connection, try wiggling itCottonmouth85 Thanks this. -
Ah didn't think of a test light for the pig tail. I will have to buy one. So the fuses are screwed in behind a plate in my glovebox of my Freightliner eh?
-
Yeah I removed the pigtail from both ends twice and reconnected but that didn't work
-
Ok since you dont have a tester you can make one with wire and a 194 bulb... or check fuses first. Someone else can weigh in on the location. I've never had the luxury of driving a shaker.
jammer910Z Thanks this. -
Actually I googled the wiring diagram so I can use my voltmeter. Believe or not the new Frieghtliners have a smooth ride. I called them Frieghtshakers and would never buy one since my back would hurt on that horrible ride. Now they are smooth.

On a freightliner the fuse box will be under the hood,on the driverside, near the powersteering.Believe it's a 20.
-
Ok I used a voltmeter and got current from the truck pigtail so it has to be the trailer. How can they find that problem?
-
Try spreading the pins on the plug on the trailer first. Careful not to spread them too much or it can break off.
jammer910Z, Tonythetruckerdude and Cottonmouth85 Thank this.
