Pulling into a snowy parking lot today, I flipped my power divider switch (while coasting), but the light did not illuminate. Is the light just a visual confirmation that the switch has been flipped, or does it actually confirm the power divider is locked?

I didn't spin or anything and don't know whether it was actually working.

What are the trouble-shooting steps? Could this be related to the earlier flash code for a shorted auxiliary?

Could be bad light. If you hear the air to them I'm sure they are working.

I hear air the typical air sounds when I flip the switch, but based on performance today I'm 99% sure the power divider itself is not engaging.

    Any ideas @Heavyd ?

There is an actual switch inside the diff to turn the light on. Power is at the bulb all the time from breaker F4-A, 10 amp. Power goes through the bulb and out to the switch which will close during locked operation. The circuit runs all the way back up into the cab where it grounds. Should be a two wire connector right at the diff housing. You can disconnect it and check for power on one pin, and then jump it with a paper clip to see if the warning light comes on. Key must be on.

If someone is outside you can hear it engage and disengage.

    Update:
Power divider is engaging. There are no wires at all going to the power divider. Bulb is good. f4-a good.

    New info:
None of the other lights in that vertical warning cluster, except ABS, are working. Dunno why ABS works and the others dont... Other lights include suspension dump, 5th wheel unlock, coolant temp, low fuel level, etc

Ok, finally had a truck in today. Yes, you are right, there is only an actual switch on the diff housing for FULL locking diff, not just a PDL. Are there two wires going to the back of the air switch? Circuit #43 and 43-G?

There are, and for ####s & giggles I tested the switch & it (the electronic portion) is bad.

    Thanks again.

Do the warning lights on that panel not light when you first turn the key on? I'm thinking ABS might be the only light that gets illuminated/tested at start-up...
