That and when I am JUST about asleep and I hear.....
BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
I could park in a field in the middle of Montana and a reefer would pull up and park beside me if I was trying to sleep.
I have heard?

The newer reefers are a lot more quiet than the old "Thermo Kings". ( with that long fan belt that would always fly off)

I had to jack knife the truck to get away from the noise, or drop the wagon altogether. And before my time, but there were the "bunker and blower" type, where you had to stop and get ice and a fan blew over the ice to cool the trailer. So I'd say we have it pretty good today.rollin coal and TheJrodTest Thank this. -

Reefer usually has less "unpredictability", and you will also get used to the noise/hum of the reefer. However, if you run a reefer long enough, when you go home and sleep in your own bed, the LACK of sound will drive you bonkers. You will need the hum to fall asleep!

I was gonna say...
I had a load of 50 gal drums of windshield washer fluid. Becuse of the way it was transported, it was classified as a hazmat load. In smaller containers its not considered hazardous. Classified as flamable of all things.
I never knew that until I did that load.

The biggest hassle with reefer IMO was dealing with slow receivers and lumpers and then trying to make your next delivery appt on time. Many places fined you for being late. Like $250 fines.
That and your almost always at or near gross with every load.

That's correct. That's another reason we recommend to new drivers to get hazmat endorsement. Many times having that hazmat endorsement for reefer drivers means the difference in sitting in a truckstop waiting for your company to find a non-hazmat load while your buddy with the endorsement is rolling on down the highway with a load of paint or whatever.Steel Dragon and rachi Thank this.
