if your seatbelt is working properl;y. it lopcks in place and you can't move forward. that's what it was designed to do.

in utah. that's a fail on the safety inspection.

    D. SEATS AND SEAT BELTS
    1. Check seats for proper operation of the adjusting mechanism and to see
that the seats are securely anchored to the floor.

    REJECT when:
    1) Seats are not securely anchored to floor.
    2) Seat adjusting mechanism slips out of set position.
    3) Seat back is broken or disconnected from seat base so
that it will not support a person's full weight.
    4) Seat belts per OEM Specifications are missing or
    ineffective.
    5) Seat belts are cut, torn, frayed, or otherwise damaged.

Why are you looking directly in your mirror at night when you KNOW there is a good chance someone is going to flash their high beams at you? You just passed them, you know they're back there, you know they could flash you at any time, so why are you focusing your eyes directly in the line of fire?

Uh I dont think so. I believe gator explained exactly how seat belts work and were designed to work. There is nothing in your example that says seat belts cannot let you move forward and if what you say is correct, then probably every truck out there has a "defective belt"

Ok back to the flashing quandary......

I don't mind when drivers do this, however it ALWAYS seems that I am looking in my mirror at the PRECISE moment the other trucker flashes their beams. <insert Manfred Mann song title here>

Another thing you can do during the daytime is watch the passing driver's mirror. Watch for his head to look at the mirror to hit your lights....

I had a dude yell at me on the radio for not thanking him for flashing me over....he said he flashed his lights 2 times. I replied "Well, sorry buddy. The sun is a he!l of a lot brighter than your headlights, sorry if I didn't see them"...

Amen. I also wave at truckers as they pass or I pass. Create that whole "Make sure they see you" key in the Smith System :biggrin_255:...And, sometimes I find myself even waving at 4-wheelers lol

It's been 3 years since I last posted in this thread, and 3 years since I went from a 62mph JB truck to one where I can actually do the speed limit everywhere I go.

Even though I'm peeling the paint off your truck as I pass most of you, I can't help but notice the increasing trend in drivers too lazy to to INTERUPT their lights and flash their high-beams instead.

Again, and regardless of what other think who disagree with me (they're wrong, pure & simple), flashing your high-beams is an emergency action and should be used only to signify that it's NOT ok to come back over yet. It's like yelling "HEY! HEY! STOP!".

Flicking your lights OFF is the proper way, because it tells the passing driver, "Darkness! Nothing back there."

And if you can't interupt your lights, simply don't do anything! A good driver can tell by the shadows/light-cast at the rear whether or not they are clear. If your eyesight/depth-perception is so bad that you can't, then you either need new glasses or a new career.

To top it all off, you should only be "helping" the passing driver when it's actually necessary. You don't need to flash me when there's a truck 300' in front of you that I'm also going to pass. Or when we're the only ones on that stretch and I have all the tike in the world to do whatever the heck I want. Use some common sense in your driving.

Stop doing it incorrectly. Stop being lazy. Period. And stop getting pissy when I don't thank you by clicking my clearance lights. I just went by you going 15mph faster than you. I don't need your help.
