A few bases will hold your weapon, cell any knives until you come out.

I deliver to the Coastguard and one other base here in California. Twic is not accepted. They take ID, BOL and have me leave doors open. Every once in awhile they make me open the hood. No worries.

I deliver to the coast gard base in humboldt maybe once a month, they check my cdl and that's it, somtimes they don't even check that. I think it all depends on the base or the branch.

Yeah well, you are better off never taking a weapon to a military base. I wouldn't trust some broker to even give me the right weight of a load let alone the regulations regarding weapons on military bases. A few years ago a driver went to Fort Drum with a permitted gun. He turned it into the guards prior to entry, but the gun wasn't permitted in the state of New York. It was permitted in his home state. They took his gun and then took him to jail. He was released after the judge heard his case and he was given a misdemeanor. His gun was confiscated. So my advice to anyone going to any military base is to NOT BRING YOUR GUN. You never know what has happened that day at the base, what the threat level is, etc. You're better off just not even trying it.

If you carry, and you should, just field strip your pistol before arriving at the base and put the parts in very hidden parts of the truck. Not only will they likely not find it, or all of it, but an unassembled gun is no longer a gun. ;)

Just put it in a draw. They don't search the inside of your truck. Never happened to me. They just get up on the step and look in.

I went into an Ammo Depot with an AR15 on my bed under the blanket, a Glock in my overhead, and a 12ga on the upper bunk. Never said a word, and they actually climbed up inside. LoL

I highly suggest that you not incriminate yourself on this forum by admitting to disobeying the rules of a military base in regards to bringing a firearm onto the premises without approval from the commander of the base. And unless you related to the commander, you will not get approval. Even if you are related, you probably wont get approval. Don't forget what happened at Fort Hood by the hands of a military officer with a firearm that was not only approved by the command, but issued to the officer. And he was an Army officer. You are just a truck driver. No offense as I am also just a truck driver. You never know if the base has a stickler who is running security that day or if some type of threat has happened prompting thorough checks of all vehicles coming on base. I've seen trucks going into bases where the contents of all the boxes are gone through and the drivers were patted down. Why? Because the security team was new and didn't know what they were supposed to do, so they went overboard.
