Nice!!! Thanks for the info. How long is that trailer, and do you use a factoring company?

That trailer is what we call a 40' lowboy, it's made by Load Trail out of Tx. it has 40' of deck and the neck is something like 7' 5" long. It has a 28" deck height, has ramps, a tool box in the neck, chain and binder racks behind the tool box, and d rings between the fenders. This is the only trailer we run here. And we have 25 of them that we're loading here on a daily basis.
Yeah some of our guys use a factoring company. There's only one that I recommend though. If you want their contact info send me a private message on here and I'll send it to you.
It's busy in here, In between typing this reply, a picture came in from another owner operator we have loading out. I noticedthat he still had a little room so booked him another piece of LTL that'll he can squeeze on here tomorrow morning. -
The max weight is 26,000lbs. How are you able to use a trailer such as that for hotshot loads? -
All you have to do is click on my name to the left and it should give you a option to private message me.
I have thousands of pictures of these trailers with loads on them. Some of them are in my profile.
Who's max weight is 26,000 lbs? Not mine, I'll shoot you a email if you can't figure out the private messaging. -
I see you used a pic of Jim's trailer on post #32. I met him when he had that load on-board, in Orange, CA. Nice guy! You only run with guys that have that exact trailer?
-
Yeah, Jims a great guy. Yeah this style of trailer is all we run. Been using these style trailer for a lot of years now., -
Wow I wish I had remembered I was a member of this board. I've been trying to figure out how to get into HS hauling. I'm in Maryland and see quite a few HS setups coming through the area. Many of them are hauling wideloads but plenty aren't. I already have a DRW F350 that is very reliable. I just need to buy a trailers and get all of the admin stuff in line before I try to venture too far.
From reading all the posts in this thread I've learned a lot. I think I'm just not sure where to find loads. There are a few actually a decent amount of brokers in my area. Do I need to contact them and get on board with them or should I try the load boards.
I've been driving a truck for almost 20 years and most of those have been hauling wideload excavation equipment and such. So experience on the driving end of it is not a problem. The admin side kinda scares me.
Any guidance from the forum is appreciated. -
If you have freight brokers near by, yes definitely go talk with them. It can't hurt. And yes you'll want to be on some load boards also.
As far as authority, it sounds a lot more difficult than it actually is. -
How long is your trl? Like a few of you guys, I'm gathering information now. I have over 10 years of over-the-road experience and getting ready to move into the hotshot business. So keep the information coming. -
Our trailers have 40' of deck space, 38' flat, and the back 2' is dove tailed. We have our trailers built with a 7.5' neck. That allows us to be under 65' over all.
Sorry guys I can't be on here as much as I'd like to. I'm busy all day, sometimes until late in the evening putting loads together, taking phone calls, answering emails, and answering questions on my own forum and Facebook page about hotshotting. I'll get back on here and try to answer some of your questions as soon as possible.Joseph Godbee and jmconneely Thank this.
