Here's the deal. Do not expect 80 to be open until tomorrow late, if at all. Just talked to a WYDOT driver and they're expecting serious winds creating "ground blizzards", whatever the hell that is. It's best to chill and worry about it later, if coming in from Nebraska, stay in Nebraska. Coming in from Utah? Stay in Utah. You guys have the upper hand by the rest of us reporting what we see out here. Safety first.

Another thing, see how far in front of me the next vehicle is? That keeps you out of trouble. Don't ride in packs, or you'll have a bad day. Slow down, safe following distance, cut your distractions, and you'll be fine.

you just drove through a light ground blizzard. A ground blizzard is when the wind is strong enough to cause white out conditions, and the temperature is cold enough to keep refreezing the snow as it melts from the friction of moving.

officially, ...to limit visibility to 0.4 km (0.25 mile) or less. A severe blizzard has winds of over 72 km (45 miles) per hour, visibility near zero, and temperatures of −12 °C (10 °F) or lower. A ground blizzard occurs when there is no falling snow, but snow is drifting and blowing near the ground.

I got thur it today from Laramie, WY. got to Cokeville, WY. Tonight. Elk had some white out when I went thur today also had compacted ice and snow. It was a little to windy when I was there to be able to keep sand down and the winds were only around 35mph.

Stay safe out there, ran across alot of stupid drivers today. Some doing 5mph down hills then getting stuck becuse they could not climb the next hill.

Please if you cant drive in this or your so uncomfortable people stay off until you feel safe.

That doesn't sound like too much fun We'll be 82,000 lbs, so I'm not too worried about traction. More worried about black ice than anything....

Ya the problem is the Black ice + wind, with the wind blowing as strong as it is now it will push you strait into a ditch with ice.

The good news is that the temps are going to be above freezing, which should stop the snow from blowing. Of course, that'll also make the black ice snotty as can be.
